A Union City Police Department traffic unit is scheduled to escort the body of the abandoned infant from the Alameda County coroner's bureau to Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward at 11 a.m. Monday, according to the Police Department.
Services for the infant are scheduled for Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. and will be open to the public. Seating will begin at 1 p.m. Chapel of the Chimes is located at 32992 Mission Blvd.
Union City police Chaplain Albert Valencia is scheduled to officiate, and Union City firefighters and police officers will lay the baby to rest.
As no relatives have come forward to claim the baby since May when it was discovered in a Dumpster near the Parkside Apartments at 1501 Decoto Road, costs for the infant's burial and services have been donated by Chapel of the Chimes, according to police.
Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to contact the Union City Police Department at (510) 471-1365, or the anonymous tip line (510) 675-5207. Information can also be sent via e-mail to tips@unioncity.org.
