Golf tournament for fallen Oakland officers

A golf tournament aimed at raising money for the families of four Oakland police officers who were slain on March 21 will be held today.

The event, which is called the "Fallen Heroes Benefit Golf Tournament," will be hosted by Sequoyah Country Club, which is located at 4550 Heafey Road in Oakland.

Check-in is between 10:30 a.m. and 11:45 a.m., there's a shotgun start at noon and at 5 p.m. there will be no-host cocktails, dinner and an auction.

Sgts. Mark Dunakin, Ervin Romans and Daniel Sakai and Officer John Hege were killed in a confrontation with wanted parolee Lovelle Mixon after Dunakin and Hege made a traffic stop on Mixon at 74th Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard in Oakland on March 22.
