The men, Angel Cayetano, 20, and Jesus Ramirez, 32, are suspected of smashing the windows to a gray 1987 Honda Accord and stealing a car stereo, according to the sheriff's office.

The search began at around 8:15 a.m. near Old Stage Road and Williams Road east of Salinas, where the suspects crashed their car into a big-rig while being chased by a witness to the alleged burglary. After the crash, the two fled on foot.

Sheriff's deputies called in K-9 units and California Highway Patrol ground and air units to scour an agricultural field near the suspects' abandoned car and a heavily wooded creek area nearby.

Cayetano and Ramirez were ultimately located and arrested for burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, possession of stolen property and possession of burglary tools.
