On Monday, protesters staged a rally, calling for the firing, disbarment and prosecution of John Yoo, who they say is a war criminal.
Yoo worked in the Bush administration from 2001 to 2003, where he co-wrote the legal memos that justified harsh interrogation techniques.
Yoo has previously defended the techniques, like waterboarding, claiming they protected Americans from terrorists.
He returned to Berkeley after spending last spring as a visiting professor at Chapman University in Orange County.
