The company Zip-Car commissioned the 1-month study. It found that trips by foot in San Francisco shot up 117 percent when participants were asked to not use their cars. But, public transit came in a very close second with a 115 percent increase in trips using bus or rail.
Cycling came in third with a 95 percent increase in trips using bicycles.
