Groups try to outlaw expired baby foods

The Consumer Federation of California and other groups called on Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, R-Calif., to sign a bill specifically making it illegal to sell expired baby foods, infant formula, and over the counter medicines.

Last year an undercover investigation found expired baby food and medicines on shelves at CVS stores. There was no specific law against it, but the attorney general said that violated false advertising and unfair business laws.

The drug store chain says it has taken steps to remove all expired goods.
