Talking about consumer electronics attitudes in this economy is Hubert Nguyen, cofounder of Ubergizmo, host of this event to unveil the Web site's top 10 technologies for this gifting season. "If you have the right system, I think, if you have a surround sound system and a really large display, I think people are getting a pretty good experience," said Intel Consumer Production's Steve Brandt.
Intel was a sponsor of this event, as was Dolby, taking care of that surround sound experience for the first time in handheld devices; also showing off the technology of Vudu, the only video entertainment service to stream Dolby surround.
"The newness here is to bring that very high quality experience that the consumers have seen in the theater to the home, with multi-channel surround sound. And even on a mobile device, now you can have surround sound on your little phone, watching a small 2-by-4 movie," said Dolby EVP Ramzi Haidamus.
