The crash was reported at 6:13 a.m. on the East Hillsdale Boulevard overpass to Highway 101, San Mateo police Sgt. Bob Szelenyi said.
The man was struck by a Caltrans sport utility vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene, Szelenyi said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, he said.
