The sighting was reported at about 4 a.m. in the area of Fred Court and York Road, police said.
Mountain lions are not uncommon in the area, and residents are advised to call Fish and Game officials at (831) 649-2810 if one is seen, or 911 if the resident feels in danger.
Residents should not confront mountain lions. If approached by the animal, residents should stand tall, wave and shout, try to appear large and maintain eye contact with it.
