The Contra Costa Times reports that the agency adopted an attrition policy to help balance the budget. The plan was so successful that most of the laid-off deputies who wanted their jobs back fot them.
15 deputies have already been rehired. The deputies that are hired next month will fill most of the remaining openings in the department.
