Steve Mariucci's name was floated in Los Angeles as a possible heir to Pete Carroll.

Now, people are talking about Mariucci as a possible candidate with the Oakland Raiders, but there is nothing new to report on current Raiders head coach Tom Cable's status -- it is eternal limbo.

Mariucci has been working in TV with the NFL Network. He is set financially, so he doesn't need to get back into coaching, but likes the challenge.

ABC7 spoke with Mariucci Wednesday and he says he has not been contacted by the Raiders. He knows Cable from when they coached together at Cal and says he would like to see Cable get another year in Oakland.
