The Marin County group Roots of Peace just received $30.4 million grant from the U.S. government. It is the largest agricultural grant given to a non-governmental organization.

Roots of Peace removes land mines and then turns the abandoned mine fields into productive farms.

The group is working in some of Afghanistan's most dangerous provinces; some of which are under the control of the Taliban.

The money will be spent helping farmers develop new high value food crops.
