Teens arrested for attempted home burglary

FAIRFIELD, CA

At about 4:40 p.m., officers responded to a burglary in progress in the 1200 block of Meadowlark Drive, police said.

Someone had seen the two suspects jump a side fence and go into the yard of a nearby home.

Police arrived and set up a perimeter, and officers saw the suspects try to break down the side garage door and enter the home.

The suspects saw the police officers and ran, jumping the fence adjoining the two backyards.

One suspect was caught hiding in a backyard, and the other was arrested after a long foot chase in the Dover Villa neighborhood, according to police.

The two 14-year-old boys, one from Fairfield and one from Suisun City, were arrested for attempted residential burglary, a felony, as well as trespassing and resisting arrest.

The teens were booked into juvenile hall.
