The boy died after an accident that occurred at about 7 p.m. near the intersection of River and Sanchez roads, according to the sheriff's office.
A Monterey California Highway Patrol dispatcher said the boy was riding the vehicle on private property near the intersection when he crashed.
The CHP is investigating the incident.
