10-year-old girl hit by stray bullet in Salinas

SALINAS, CA

At around 7:30 p.m., the young victim and her mom were walking along Roosevelt Street when an unknown shooter fired at two teenage boys near the intersection of Roosevelt and Wood Streets, according to the Salinas Police Department.

A bullet struck the girl in the leg, and she was carried by her mother to a relative's home on Roosevelt Street. She was later taken to a hospital. Her wound was not expected to be life threatening.

The two intended targets of the shooting were not found by police.

The gunshots reportedly came from a white or gray van or a tan sedan.
