Wind advisory issued for the Bay Area

The advisory will be in effect between 3 a.m. and 6 p.m. due to northwesterly winds forecast to reach speeds of 25 mph to 35 mph with gusts of up to 45 mph, according to the weather service.

Coastal areas are expected to see the strongest winds, but the advisory also applies to inland parts of the Bay Area.

The weather service is advising motorists to expect difficult driving conditions, and residents throughout the region are being warned of the potential for fallen trees and sporadic power outages.
