Preservationists appeal Steve Jobs mansion ruling

WOODSIDE, CA

San Mateo County Superior Court Judge Marie Weiner last month upheld the Woodside Town Council's decision to issue Jobs a demolition permit. Jobs wants to raze the crumbling, 17,250--square-foot mansion and replace it with a smaller home.

But on Thursday, the group Uphold Our Heritage filed an appeal filed an appeal saying the initial environmental impact report didn't demonstrate that preserving the house would cost more than replacing it.

The group's lawyer Doug Carstens says the group favors a recent proposal by residents Magalli and Jason Yoho to move the mansion 2.3 miles to a lot they own and restore the structure.
