Gunnar Sandberg was put into a coma after being hit in the head by a line-drive coming off a metal bat. He has been recovering at a rehabilitation facility in San Francisco. He now faces physical therapy and has to wear a helmet until a piece of his skull is replaced.
Many schools in Marin County have been playing with wood bats since the accident, a less powerful bat.
Sandberg will be throwing out the first pitch this week at a game for his team at the Giants ball park and also at the A's-Giants game on May 23rd.
