Hearing held on restoring some Muni cuts

SAN FRANCISCO

The agency slashed Muni bus and rail service by 10 percent in May due to budget difficulties, but the board of directors is now recommending 50 percent of those cuts be restored as soon as Sept. 4.

The proposed changes would reduce crowding on some of the busiest routes and improve late-night service, according to the SFMTA.

The agency credits "stronger than expected revenue streams, operational efficiencies and new grant opportunities" for the ability to restore some of the cuts.

Tuesday's public hearing begins at noon in Room 400 at City Hall.
