Paige Tillie Linville, 26, is charged with the murders of 34-year-old Amber Lee Chappell in Cordelia and 41-year-old Christine Baxley in Dixon; conspiracy to commit murder; and personal discharge of a firearm causing the death of Baxley.
Linville's co-defendant, 30-year-old Mario Raul Moreno of Vallejo, pleaded no contest in April to two counts of voluntary manslaughter and use of a gun. He faces a 32-year prison term after Linville is tried, Deputy District Attorney Krishna Abrams said.
At Linville's preliminary hearing, which ended this afternoon, Moreno testified the pair killed the two women "because they wanted to know what it felt like to kill someone," Abrams said.
Linville told a Solano County jail inmate that it was "a rush and better than sex," Abrams said.
Moreno shot Chappell in Cordelia first, and Linville later shot Baxley, Abrams said.
The defendants, who were romantically involved, did not know the victims, Krishna said.
Chappell's body was found at the end of Ramsey Road near Gold Hill Road in rural Solano County at about 4:45 a.m. Nov. 16, 2007, and Baxley's body was found in the 1500 block of Valley Glen Drive in Dixon at about 1:50 p.m., the Solano County Sheriff's Office said.
Both defendants were arrested in December 2007. Linville initially pleaded guilty to being an accessory to the killings and possession of methamphetamine and was sentenced to a state prison term.
Based on new information from the investigation, Linville was arrested again in April and charged with both murders.
Moreno was scheduled to be tried in late April for the murders before he pleaded no contest on April 1 to the manslaughter charges and agreed to testify against Linville, Abrams said.
Linville will re-enter pleas in Solano County Superior Court July 23.
