Sixth infant dies of whooping cough in California

SACRAMENTO, CA

The previous five deaths were all babies under 3-months-old. They were too young to be immunized.

Officials are urging parents and caretakers to get vaccinated. California has recorded over 1,500 cases this year, five times more than same time last year.

Whooping cough starts out like a common cold, but is followed by months of coughing fits that may end with a whooping sound.
