Concord offers free whooping cough vaccines

CONCORD, CA

Whooping cough has reached epidemic levels in the state this year, with six infants dying of the disease so far.

Officials say it is very contagious and can be especially serious for young children. They are urging parents to make sure their children are vaccinated for whooping cough.

Vaccinations are also recommended for infant care givers, people over 65 and women who might become pregnant.

The free clinic is being held from 4-9 p.m. during Concord's Thursday Music and Market program at Todos Santos Plaza on Willow Pass Road.
