A World War II airman from Oakland was buried with full military honors Tuesday, 66 years after his death.

Sgt. John Bonnassiolle was part of a B24 crew that was flying a bombing mission over Berlin in 1944 when it crashed.

Seven years ago, investigators began excavating the bomber's crash site near Hannover, Germany and discovered remains.

Bonnassiolle's remains were identified using DNA testing.

Bonnassiolle was buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma in a ceremony that included an Air Force flyover.
