Overturned big-rig removed from NB Hwy 17

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA

The big-rig crashed shortly before 7 a.m. on "Big Moody Curve," a dangerous stretch of roadway north of Summit Road, and a Sig-alert was issued a short time later.

The trailer portion of the big-rig overturned in the crash, and traffic was diverted onto Old Santa Cruz Highway after the California Highway Patrol shut down both lanes of northbound traffic as they righted the big-rig.

Crews encountered some difficultly in removing the rig, CHP Officer Nicole Pacheco said.

The CHP initially estimated the lanes would reopen by 11 a.m. at the earliest, but the accident was finally cleared at 12:06 p.m., Pacheco said.
