San Jose Jiffy Lube crowned as world champs

SAN JOSE, CA

Most people don't want to come in contact with motor oil, but Angel Hernandez is one Jiffy Lube employee who deals with the dirty sides of cars all day. However at Jiffy Lube store No. 2332 in San Jose, he is yet to wrench a drain plug he couldn't unscrew.

The operations of the store run a lot like the Marine Corps and there is a lot of attention to detail.

A crew from the store just returned from the world series of oil changing in Los Vegas at Cesar's Palace. Jiffy Lube's all-star crews gathered to compete against each other; there were 1,600 teams in all.

Last year, store 2332 never made it past the first round and didn't know the rules. For the past year, though, they practiced day after day and improved to number one. They cut their best time for a full service down to 4 minutes and 30 seconds.

This accomplishment had made an hourly, dirty job one to be proud of.
