US hikers detained in Iran get trial date

FILE - In this May 21, 2010 file photo, American hikers Shane Bauer, left, Josh Fattal, center, and Sarah Shourd are shown in Tehran. Bauer's mother, Cindy Hickey of Pine City, Minn., said Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010, the two men still jailed in Iran have a Nov. 6 trial date and their families hope that means a release soon after. Hickey said they learned of the trial date from their lawyer around the same time Shourd was released and the families have few other details. Hickey says the lawyer will argue any border crossing was accidental while the three were hiking in northern Iraq in July 2009. (AP Photo/Press TV, File)

The two UC Berkeley grads being held in Iran have a trial date.

Iran's official news agency reports that Josh Fattal and Shane Bauer will appear before the Revolution Court on November 6.

Fattal and Bauer, along with Sarah Shourd, were arrested near the Iran-Iraq border a year ago. She was released in September.

A classified U.S. report leaked on Friday suggests that Iranians crossed the border into Iraq to arrest the three Americans.
