Parents reminded to exercise safety on Halloween

BERKELEY, CA

That is why Frank Cruz was at Leconte Elementary School's Halloween festival Saturday reminding parents to make sure their trick-or-treaters are visible to traffic.

Cruz lost his 5-year-old son Zachary to a car accident in Berkeley last year, so he started the Zachary Cruz Foundation to create awareness and remind parents that on Halloween, overly-excited children combined with dark conditions can create dangerous situations.

So, if you're driving. Remember the peak trick-or-treating hours are between 5:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Also, get rid of any distractions in your car and be aware of unpredictable movements by children, especially at intersections.
