Violent crimes decrease in East Palo Alto

East Palo Alto's police chief credits officers working with the community and other efforts with reducing many violent crimes in his city.

Homicides have dropped by 43 percent as compared to this time last year. East Palo Alto had four murders between January and October, compared to seven during the same time last year.

Shootings fell by 51 percent, robberies have fallen 36 percent while assaults have dropped by 24 percent. But the number of reported rapes has increased by 13 percent.
