SF Jewish community against circumcision ban

San Francisco's Jewish community is mobilizing against a proposal that would ban circumcision in the city.

San Francisco resident Lloyd Schofield wants to put a measure on the November 2011 ballot that would make it a misdemeanor punishable by a year in jail or $1,000 fine. He calls the operation painful, traumatic and unnecessary. But, city Jewish groups say circumcision has been an important part of their religion for 3000 years and they promise to mobilize to make sure it doesn't pass.
