The one-alarm fire was reported at 8:39 a.m. at a six-story apartment building in the 200 block of Hyde Street, San Francisco fire Lt. Mindy Talmadge said.
Firefighters responded and saw thick black smoke coming from the top floor of the building. The fire was controlled at 8:48 a.m. and was confined to one apartment on the top floor, Talmadge said.
No one was injured in the blaze, she said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation but it does not appear to be suspicious, she said.
