Santa Cruz suspicious package was a book

SANTA CRUZ, Calif.

A man called police at about 9:30 a.m. to report finding a suspicious package on his car, which was parked in his driveway in the 200 block of Chilverton Street, sheriff's Sgt. Dan Campos said.

Officers evacuated about eight homes on Chilverton Street and shut down several streets to investigate the discovery. A sheriff's bomb squad determined at about 11:35 a.m. that the package was actually a wrapped book, Campos said.

Evacuated residents were allowed to return and streets have been reopened, he said.
