Little League bans most composite bats

Effective immediately, Little League officials have placed a moratorium on the use of composite bats in all of their baseball divisions.

There was already a moratorium in place in junior, senior and big league baseball divisions -- this latest ban covers the rest.

Ten high schools in Marin County agreed to stop using metal bats in March after a batter -- using a metal bat -- hit a line-drive that struck 16-year-old pitcher Gunnar Sandberg in the head.

He was in a coma for three weeks, but has since recovered.
