Some libraries allow e-book downloads

"The book automatically expires as soon as the due date arrives, so it could be seven, 14 or 21 days depending on the library and right at that date the book is no longer accessible by the user," said Katherine Boehret from the Wall Street Journal.

Now, it only works if your library provides e-books and those that do often have a limited selection.
