The idea is that adding 'Silicon Valley' to the name will make it more attractive for travelers. Since Silicon Valley is an area known around the world, officials feel it could increase the airport's popularity.
Some passengers feel it would take some time to get used to it and not everybody knows that.
"It's so long that it's clumsy, but this is Silicon Valley. So I like it but it's too long," San Jose resident Patty Woolcock said.
The main concern is that San Jose is in third place in passenger traffic, after SFO and Oakland, who have more travelers each year. Travelers said that for them, choosing an airport ultimately comes to convenience and flight prices, not shiny new terminal or name changes.
