East Palo Alto celebrated the groundbreaking Tuesday of the community's first public high school in more than 30 years.

The new campus on Garden Street eventually will serve students who currently attend classes in a converted warehouse.

Aspire Public Schools operates the Phoenix Academy charter school.

The school can boast that all of its graduating seniors last year were accepted into four-year colleges.

The new campus will cost $13 million. The Sequoia High School District will cover part of that amount. Private donors also helped foot the bill.
