One of San Francisco's star chefs had to cook for some very picky food critics Wednesday. Charles Phan of Slanted Door fame visited Hillcrest Elementary School in the Portola District during their lunch time.

His visit is part of the school district's Chef in the Classroom program designed to educate kids about making healthy food choices.

Phan made the students fresh vegetarian spring rolls. Some kids liked the spring rolls so much, they asked for seconds.

Phan's family escaped Vietnam in the 1970s. He is a graduate of Mission High School in San Francisco.
