Board of Sups postpones phone book decision

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors has decided to postpone any decision on whether to restrict the distribution of the Yellow Pages.

The proposal from Board President David Chiu would have residents and businesses automatically opt out of receiving a phone book unless they apply for one.

Chiu says the aim is to cut waste and city costs. Those who oppose the idea say the ban would eliminate jobs and hurt local businesses.
