The rain falling in parts of the Bay Area on Thursday is expected to contain traces of radioactive isotopes believed to have come from the damaged Japanese nuclear power plant. But scientists say the precipitation is not expected to be hazardous to our health.

The Environmental Protection Agency tested rain water from the big storms last month. They showed some radioactive particles that exceeded federal standards, but say it is not a health concern because those particles dissipate so quickly.
