Tuesday the San Jose City Council approved the appropriation for the expansion of the McEnery Convention Center. The vote was the final step toward officially launching the $120 million upgrade that will add 125,000 square feet of space.

Officials say project will create construction jobs, and make the center a world class facility.

Money for the project comes from a hotel tax started in 2009.
