Police arrest teen in connection with burglary

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.

A man returned to his home in the 300 block of C Street to find two male juveniles trying to pry open his rear sliding glass door at about 10:45 a.m., police said.

After the man yelled at the teens, they started to run away while he chased after them, police said. The victim eventually lost sight of them, called police and provided them with a description of the suspects.

One of the suspects, a 16-year-old boy, was found by police near Mezes Park. The victim identified the teenager and he was booked into the San Mateo County Juvenile Detention Center for burglary and possession of burglary tools, police said.

Detectives are searching for the second suspect, who is described as a Hispanic boy who is between 15 and 17 years old, has short black hair, and was wearing a black shirt.

Anyone who may have witnessed the burglary or has any information about the crime is asked to contact Detective Val Cook at (650) 780-7697 or Sgt. Sean Hart (650) 780-7681.

The 16-year-old's name is being withheld because he is a juvenile.
