Police arrested the suspect, who was not a member of the congregation. However the pastor says the man visited the church several times and seemed to be mentally unstable.
"He had been here a couple times in the past just to pray. You could tell that he wasn't all there mentally, had some issues going on, but didn't seem like he was a danger and then suddenly we had something like this happen," said Rev. Travis Guse.
The church has already begun patching some of the 36 smashed windows and expects to have the building repaired in time for Sunday mass.
