A new law prohibits registration renewals until the expiration date or until the DMV sends out a renewal notice, whichever comes first. The DMV is waiting longer to send them out in an effort to reduce the backlog.
July renewal notices are just starting to go out today. The DMV says everyone will get a grace period of 30-days before late fees kick in.
