Driver swerves, injures woman getting out of car

KENTFIELD, Calif.

Moira Buxbaum was exiting her 2009 BMW, which was parked on the western edge of Los Cerros Drive, just south of Almenar Drive, when a southbound 1993 Volvo swerved to the right and hit Buxbaum and her car just before 6 p.m., CHP Officer Sean Poore said.

The collision sent the 56-year-old woman onto the hood of the Volvo and severely injured her right foot, he said. She was taken to Marin General Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Volvo, a 16-year-old Greenbrae boy, told CHP investigators that he had he been momentarily distracted just before he swerved.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, Poore said.

The accident is under investigation by the CHP.
