A flying car has been cleared for the road by the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration. Terrafugia has been developing the flying car since 2008.

The company won a special exemption to use lighter-weight plastic windows instead of glass and heavier than usual tires to handle the landing.

The car is sold under the name "Transition" and sells for $250,000.

Transition was approved by the FAA as a light sport aircraft last year.
