Campaign pushes for Ed Lee to run for Mayor

SAN FRANCISCO

Women supporters staged a mock draft in front of City Hall on Wednesday, urging Mayor Lee to seek the top city job.

The rally came despite Lee's repeated comments that he does not wish to enter the race.

Supporters cast aside rumors that their movement is being manipulated behind the scenes by ex-mayor Willie Brown and his political allies.

"This man's been a good public servant," said Shelley Bradford with the 'Run Ed Run' campaign. "He's been a great mayor. I know about my passion and I believe in Ed Lee and that's why he should stay."

On Monday, the mayor said once again that he is not running. The deadline for filing to get on the November ballot is August 12.
