Coach Nino Giarrantano was a match for his father, Mickey, whose kidneys failed last fall after gallbladder surgery.
Giarrantano told his dad he would give him a kidney as soon as the USF baseball season was over.
"...It was a decision that was made as soon as I found out my father needed the help, it was something I said yes to right away. This is going to be me, I said I'll do it," said Giarrantano.
At 80 years old, Mickey is the oldest patient to ever undergo transplant surgery at Porter Adventist Hospital in Denver. Aside from a few scars, both the coach and his father are doing well.
