Group of Bay Area students return from Haiti trip

SAN JOSE, Calif.

The group of high school and college students went to the main camp in Port-au-Prince where some 30,000 people are living 19 months after the massive January 2010 quake. They saw kids sleeping on concrete and families living in tents. They say poverty is rampant despite the millions in humanitarian aid.

"You see the massive amount of people living in tent cities and who are homeless and have little to no resources. And then you ask yourself, where is the money going?" said SJSU student Andrea Kennedy.

The group blames U.S. foreign policy and the Haiti government for the conditions the refugees live in. They said immediate efforts need to be made to ensure proper aid distribution.
