Crash knocked out power to 3,800 in Walnut Creek

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.

As of 10 a.m., PG&E crews were replacing the power pole that was broken when a truck struck it at about 4:40 a.m. near Ygnacio Valley Road and Hospital Drive, according to the utility.

While power has been restored to all but 10 of the roughly 3,800 customers affected, those remaining homes may not see the lights come back on until as late as 3 p.m., PG&E said.

The crash closed the eastbound lanes of Ygnacio Valley Road between La Casa Via and San Carlos Drive, according to police.

Police have not returned calls seeking further information about the crash.
