Santa Rosa graffiti vandalism suspect arraigned

SANTA ROSA, Calif.

Eric Lane Badger, 29, of Santa Rosa, is suspected of graffiti vandalism at 45 different places in Santa Rosa, Deputy District Attorney Victoria Shanahan told Judge Ken Gnoss.

The damage alone to one of the targets was $3,000, Shanahan said.

The judge noted the complaint mentions up to different alleged victims.

Santa Rosa police Sgt. Michael Lazzarini said dozens of business owners in the Railroad Square and downtown area of Santa Rosa were targeted with the moniker "JERK" over the past four months.

Lazzarini estimated there were more than 100 vandalism incidents to city owned property and more than 50 incidents to privately owned businesses causing more than $5,000 in damage.

Damage amounts from dozens of other incidents have not been determined, Lazzarini said when Badger was arrested Wednesday.

Badger also has been charged with possession of methamphetamine.

Gnoss kept Badger's bail at $10,000. Badger is scheduled to enter a plea Tuesday morning.
