The accident happened last Friday afternoon at 18th and Hartford Streets in the Castro District. Twenty-three-year-old Emily Dunn was hit in the crosswalk.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports the bus driver was driving to a new assignment on a route he picked himself. Company policy is for dispatchers to give a driver specific directions -- a Muni spokesman said that didn't happen.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing. The driver is on non-driving status.
